James Owen
James Owen has been teaching at La Jolla Music nearly since the beginning. The store was established in 1962 and James started working there just a few years later. As a teenager, he was the first guitarist to win the Redlands Bowl Youth Artists Auditions, which fueled his passion for music. He soon discovered he enjoyed teaching music, where he focused on guitar and banjo. In the early 2000s, when David Woo purchased the store, James was asked to expand the list of instruments he taught in the store. Today, James provides lessons on the guitar (classical and electric) as well as the banjo, bass and the Ukulele!
