Alan Merriam

Alan Merriam grew up in a home filled with music.  His mother was a piano teacher and his father was a fan of the big bands.  Alan took piano lessons and studied music in college before becoming a professional musician. Although he loved music, as a child he did not feel his lessons were very engaging, which years later would serve his community greatly when he developed his own method of teaching.   When he formed the Merriam Music School, Alan focused on several types of programs that would appeal to different students such as group and ensemble lessons as well as private teaching for a variety of instruments including piano, drums, guitar and violin.  Alan’s passion for music has provided the opportunity for many students at all levels to have a successful and engaging beginning experience in music.
