Bob Riskin

Bob Riskin started working for McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica just a few years after it opened in 1958.  Before long the shop was abuzz with the folk music boom and later played an equally important role in the folk-rock craze that expanded the shop to include electric guitars for the first time.  When the shop moved, Bob designed a stage area that has been critical for not only the shop, but for music.  Every week since 1969 there has been a performance on the McCabe stage in the shop and the list of performers is unbelievable.  Folk icons such as Elizabeth Cotton and Joni Mitchell have played the stage as have NAMM interviewees Lyle Ritz, Jack Tempchin, Ray Manzarek and Ralph Stanley!
