Booker T. Jones
Booker T. Jones grew up in Memphis and began recording as a session player while still in high school at the age of 17. While waiting for a session to begin, Booker and the other musicians in the studio began playing a song Booker wrote, which was later given a name when the engineer encouraged the group to record it. The song was called “Green Onions” and soon Booker T. and the MGs were on the top of the pop charts! They recorded several other hits both at that time and years later when Booker returned to Stax Records after attending college. And he has been recording and touring ever since. In 2012 he was awarded his fourth career Grammy for the album “The Road From Memphis”, which once again demonstrates Booker’s passion and talents!
