Darrell Leonard
Darrell Leonard really enjoys his role of writing and arranging music. After touring with a band in the late 1960s, Darrell found himself arranging “Put A Little Love In Your Heart” for Kim Carnes to perform on the Joey Bishop television program. This opened up many opportunities for Darrell who has gone on to work for several iconic performers and for several hit movies. He arranged the song “Keeping Out of Mischief Now” for Taj Mahal to perform in the movie Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002), as well as the background music for several other movies including Tommy Boy (1995) and Home Alone (1990). Darrell has also worked with Delaney & Bonnie, the Rolling Stones, BB King, Solomon Burke, John Porter and T-Bone Burnett. In the 1980s he focused on a pet project, developing his own big band called The Line Up. While it disbanded, due mostly to Darrell’s heavy workload, the band was brought back in 2012. A true pet project, the band does not tour or record, but simply plays parties and clubs when time permits, which means for him it’s all about the fun and thrill of making music!
