Diane Sparks
Diane Sparks and her brother, Donnie, formed a successful singing group in the 1960s. Donnie & Diane performed and recorded a string of hits, most written by Donnie. Diane's husband, Roger Sparks, played lead guitar in the Donnie and Diane band from 1968 to 1974. The Donnie and Diane band was inducted in the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2014 with Donnie, Diane, Roger, and the band performing a 45 minute set as they had while touring in Kansas from 1968 to 1974 at the induction ceremonies at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas. At the height of her careers, Diane joined forces with her husband, Roger, to open a music store in southern Kansas. She continued to perform, while raising their children and working in the store! The NAMM staff was honored to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sparks Music in January 2018 at the NAMM Show in Anaheim! At that same show, both Diane and Roger sat down for their NAMM Oral History interview!
