Elizabeth Ludwig-Fennell

Elizabeth Ludwig-Fennell was always surrounded by music. As a child, she played piano. As a young adult, she helped develop the Ludwig Music Publishing Company. She later married the founder. Upon her husband’s passing, she took over the business during an era when women seldom were involved in the business side of the music industry. She was not always treated fairly and exhibited a hard-as-nails exterior as necessary in order to gain the respect and business of the all male dealer base. When she married famed conductor Fredrick Fennell she assisted with his arrangements and publishing. She delighted in traveling with her husband worldwide as his supporter and often remarked as to how proud she was of his work.
