Ellis Day
Ellis Day was a familiar face to NAMM show attendees for several decades as the front line trombone player on the opening day’s Petiot All-Industry Marching Band performances. Ellis has had a long and successful career in the music industry following his service in World War II and his work for the retail chain Sherman Clay. He later moved to Chicago to work for Lyon & Healy and spent some time on the supplier’s end of the industry, working at Leblanc. In the late 1960s he began his long association with Allegro Music in Fremont, California, where he has served as the store’s general manager.
