Herbert David

Herbert David was often called upon when a guitar needed repair – especially when the guitar belonged Eric Clapton. Still, guitar repair was only a part of his business. Herb enjoys making “odd ball instruments” as he calls them, and was hired by the Smithsonian to create an ancient instrument they did not have in their collection but wanted to display as a special exhibit.  What becomes clear in watching his NAMM Oral History interview is his passion for musical instruments!  Herb passed away at the age of 89 in July of 2020.
