Jimmy Haslip
Jimmy Haslip is a true musician’s musician with a career filled with hundreds of recording dates and live sound events that date back to his teen years. Perhaps best known as an original member of the Yellowjackets, Jimmy grew up in Long Island, NY and was exposed to nearly every style of music and took that knowledge in hand while creating his own unique and diverse approach to playing. He played in some of the early glam rock bands of the 1970s and toured for years with Tommy Bolin and Harvey Mandel before becoming a fixture in the Los Angeles recording studios. There he recorded with a long list of artists including Bruce Hornby, Kiss, Al Jarraeu and Donald Fagen. Jimmy also toured the world with Chaka Khan on the heels of her smash hit “I Feel For You” in 1984. All the while Jimmy recorded and toured with the Yellowjackets, a progressive fusion jazz band formed in 1977 with fellow musicians Robben Ford, Ricky Lawson and Russell Ferrante.
