Joyce Moore
Joyce Moore has been encouraged by many friends and family members for years to write a book. After her NAMM interview, we concluded the same thing. Joyce was there when Jackie Wilson recorded “Higher and Higher.” She had an onboard tour of the very plane that crashed two months later, killing Otis Redding and seven others. Being married to Sam Moore for 40 years put her right in the middle of his fascinating career as did her role as assistant Maître D at Mr. Kelly’s in Chicago. Her passion for music and witnessing artists not being fully compensated for their recordings propelled her to seek justice. She strongly advocated for the Performance Rights Act of 2009 and continues to raise awareness for the need for performers to be paid whenever their recordings are broadcasted.
