Jozef Nuyens
Jozef Nuyens founded The Castle recording studios in 1982. The Castle is one of the best known recording facilities in the world. About 450 gold and platinum artists from all genres of the music industry have recorded there over the years. It was one of the first digital recording facilities in the world, and the first in the Southeastern US. The Castle was built under the auspices of the notorious gangster, Al Capone. He and his “gang" used it as a rest stop for their travel route from Chicago to New Orleans or Miami. Gambling activity would be rampant in the Castle’s basement throughout the 30’s. Gambling symbols are still embedded in the front rock walkway as a reminder of its illegal activities. In the 40’s The Castle added to its colorful history when it opened as a restaurant with such patrons such as Bob Hope and Spencer Tracy, who were doing a movie in the area. Over the last 35 years, The Recording studio converted The Castle’s obscure history into a permanent beacon of bliss with its rich output of successful chart topping artists.
