Kay Starr

This audio only interview was conducted for a radio program by Dan Del Fiorentino and donated to the NAMM Oral History program: Kay Starr enjoyed a long and successful career as a pop singer bringing in the Big Band Era and continuing into the Sing Era of the 1950s. Among the big bands she recorded and toured with were Bob Crosby, Charlie Barnes, and Glenn Miller. She even scored a big hit during the early Rock Era with "Rock and Roll Waltz." Her biggest hit in the early 50s was "Wheel of Fortune." She continued to embrace her jazz roots with the 1968 album with Count Basie entitled "How About This."
