Lowell Samuel
Lowell Samuel was the quintessential music man! He devoted his life to creating school band programs in the small towns of Illinois before and after World War II. After serving as a band director, he opened Samuel Music in 1946, which allowed him to continue to support both students and band directors alike. As the store grew, Lowell expanded his business to include a very successful wholesale division called MIDCO. Lowell had a great interest in creating foundations that would ensure the stability of the future of the music products industry. As a result, he served on the NAMM Board of Directors and was a founding member of NASMD.
