Marc Silber

Marc Silber has had a series of music stores during his long and colorful career including Fretted Instruments, located in Greenwich Village, New York and Marc Silber’s Music in Berkeley, California. While he owned Fretted Instruments in the early 1960s, Marc sold a guitar to Bob Dylan, who hung out at the store. While visiting the store, Dylan often shared songs he was writing and played with Marc and other customers. Marc later moved to Berkeley where he opened another store that once again became a hang out for the local musicians. Marc’s passion for playing continued all throughout this retail career. To date he has recorded 13 albums, mostly of the blues and folk music that he has written.
