Mike Daws
Mike Daws moved to Melbourne from England in 1974 where his brother-in-law, a drummer, introduced him to Billy Hyde. Billy was a well-known drummer who helped his son, Garry, run a successful music store. Mike took a liking to Billy and Garry and was soon hired to help run the business side of a developing wholesale division. That division was so successful it became its own company, renamed Music Link. Mike worked with Garry after Billy's sudden death in the late 1970s and expanded the wholesale company to include non-percussive brands such as Selmer, Ampeg, Cort and, beginning in 1978, Korg. Music Link became a key player in the expansion of Korg throughout Australia, a fact for which Mike is proud.
