Nigel Clark
Nigel Clark began taking oboe lessons when he was seven years old. By the age of 17 Nigel started working in the music industry for an oboe reed making company Harry Baker ( oboe reeds) ltd. In 1973 he was able to buy, with partners, the small oboe making company T W Howarth & co Ltd., from the two owners who were retiring. Nigel was devoted to the process of producing oboes of the finest possible standards. He invested in machines and worked on improving the consistency and quality of Howarth oboes with his business partner John Pullen. They later renamed the company Howarth of London ltd which by the time Nigel retired in 2018 had developed an impeccable reputation throughout the woodwind community.
