Patrice Rushen

Patrice Rushen has forged many in roads in the music industry. While Patrice got her start recording as an accomplished jazz pianist, she soon branched out into many other genres including pop and R&B. Along the way, Patrice took her passion for composing and arranging into the TV and Film arena while also becoming the first female musical director for the Grammys, Emmys, and NAACP awards shows. This work also dovetailed nicely with Patrice’s love of orchestral music. Patrice has written numerous compositions performed by the Detroit Symphony and the LA Philharmonic. Besides her extensive performing and writing career, Patrice is also an active music educator serving on the faculty for Berklee and as chair for USC’s Popular Music program.
