Ron Escheté

Ron Escheté grew up in and around Houma, Louisiana and, during his NAMM Oral History interview, said, “I was never taught the blues, it was just something all around all the time. Playing the blues to me is like walking or breathing air.” As a musician, Ron has created a unique style on the seven-string guitar as well as the stand guitar that he has played with the likes of Buddy Greco, Dave Pike, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Diana Krall, Dizzy Gillespie and Milt Jackson among others.   As a teacher, Ron taught at several universities and was one of the first teachers at Hollywood’s Musician’s Institute. Over the years, Ron has authored several books including “Melodic Chord Phrases,” “The Jazz Guitar Soloist” and “Super Solos.”
