Tim Smith
Tim Smith grew up in a very musical family as his father and uncle both wrote and record music. In fact, his uncle, Arthur Smith, wrote two of the most famous instrumentals in modern country music (“Guitar Boogie” and “Dueling Banjos”). Young Tim was playing bass in his uncle's recording studio when he was just a mere 10 years old. Tim’s first instrument endorsement brought him to The NAMM Show when he was 16, playing in the Music Man booth! He became one of the most requested bassists in Nashville for several years beginning with his first session in the Music City in 1979, in which a number one record for Tom Jones entitled “Darlin'” was produced. Tim was asked to join the faculty at the Frost School of Music in Miami, which he has greatly enjoyed. It is more than just giving back for Tim - the opportunity to teach young musicians provides him with a feeling that he gets to contribute to the future of music.
