Committee Plans New Version of NAMM Standards for 2015

Version 2015.1 Promotes Cost Savings and Efficiencies in the Music Products Industry

July 16, 2014

At this year's Summer NAMM show in Nashville, NAMM’s Ad-Hoc Technology Committee concluded another round of face-to-face meetings.

The committee has approved a plan to revise and release a new version of NAMM Standards that will be dubbed “Version 2015.1.” It will include additional documents that support electronic serial number sales, as well as updates for improving several existing documents.

There will also be an updated version of the “NAMM Standards Implementation Guide and Specifications,” which will reflect and document the additional features and changes included in the release. The Implementation Guide provides the necessary details for trading partners to begin using the standards.

The committee also updated and revised its “Do You Have Standards?” outreach and educational campaign.

The NAMM Standards Implementation Guide and Specifications, Version 2015.1, will be published on NAMM’s website at http://www.namm.org/standards. The additional 2015 documents and draft updates are available now for implementers. This site is open to all NAMM Members and also features related resources for NAMM Members.

The Ad-Hoc Technology Committee, comprised of technical experts from companies including West Music, Sweetwater, Korg USA, RapcoHorizon, TriTechical Systems, RetailUP!, Menchey Music Service, Hal Leonard and Omacro, notes that the industry benefits from the adoption of NAMM Standards because it makes conducting business easier and more efficient between manufacturers and retailers, and helps with the reporting of statistical information.
