Japanese Mayor Attends the 2016 NAMM Show in Support of Hamamatsu-Based Companies

Mayor Suzuki visits California to support Hamamatsu companies and meet with trade show organizers

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) is honored to announce that the Mayor of Hamamatsu, Japan, Mr. Yasutomo Suzuki is visiting the 2016 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The city of Hamamatsu represents a major portion of the music product industry in Japan. The mayor is attending the NAMM Show, a global music product trade event, to demonstrate his city’s support of the various Japanese manufacturers that are exhibiting music products at the NAMM Show. His focus is on the NAMM Show exhibitors based in the city of Hamamatsu, including Yamaha, Roland, Kawai and Suzuki. 

“JETRO is privileged to attend the 2016 NAMM Show, where many Japanese companies are continuing the effort to expand their reach worldwide through the power of music. We join Mr. Suzuki in applauding these individuals and look forward to this opportunity,” said Sachiko Yoshimura, Chief Executive Director of JETRO Los Angeles.

The mayor’s agenda is very full consisting of company visits and NAMM Show special event participation. On Wednesday, January 20, Suzuki is discussing collaborative efforts in creating more active music makers at the International Coalition meeting. He is also participating in a conference with NAMM Show organizers, which includes discussions of future cooperation between NAMM and the city of Hamamatsu, which has decided to participate in the International Pavilion at the 2017 NAMM Show.

Mr. Suzuki is attending Media Preview Day on Wednesday, January 20, for a preview of the newest products at the show. On Thursday, January 21 the mayor is attending the NAMM U Breakfast of Champions, a spotlight on industry thought-leaders, attending the NAMM Industry Tribute, in remembrance of the music industry professionals lost over the past year, as well as attending the Chairman’s Reception to meet NAMM Chairman, Mark Goff. He is also set to receive a private tour of the NAMM Show from NAMM staff, and meet with the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles during his stay.

The NAMM Show gathers nearly 100,000 music industry leaders from around the world in Anaheim each year. The show features 5,000+ music instrument, product and technology brands, including guitars, drums, pianos, synthesizers, band and orchestra instruments, pro audio equipment, DJ gear and more.
