NAMM Announces Wanna Play Music Sunday at 2010 Summer NAMM

Association Expands its Work to Invite More Music Students, Parents and Enthusiasts to Annual Summer Event

April 9, 2010

NAMM today announced a continuation of its recent efforts to broaden attendance at Summer NAMM by inviting and allowing its Members to invite more music students, parents, music advocates and enthusiasts to the 2010 event. Called "Wanna Play Music Sunday," NAMM will open its show floor on Sunday, June 20, for these groups to see demonstrations of the latest products, watch unique live musical performances, attend valuable workshops taught by known professional musicians and talk with music products industry insiders.

Some of the "Wanna Play Music Sunday" workshops scheduled include: How to Get More Gigs, Effects 101, Techniques to Hook up Your Gear, Recording Tips and Tricks, and How to Get Endorsed. The event will also feature drumming competitions, free guitar set-ups and restringing, as well as a “Vintage Guitar Roadshow," where used instruments will be appraised by professionals. Although no sales from the floor to these groups will be allowed on "Wanna Play Music Sunday," NAMM hopes to help its Members generate increased excitement for playing music and stimulate demand for many of the newly displayed products.

This spring, NAMM will encourage all "Wanna Play Sunday" attendees to visit its Members' retail stores in order to receive special "50 percent off" discount coupons containing promotional codes that can be used when ordering tickets online at namm.org/wannaplaysunday. NAMM Members can visit namm.org and print out these discount coupons to give to inquiring customers. Proceeds from "Wanna Play Music Sunday" at Summer NAMM will support music education through the Wanna Play Fund.
