The NAMM Foundation and Disney Channel today announced the recipients of “Disney’s High School Musical: The Music in You Grant Program” that encourages middle and high schools across the U.S. to put on their own school stage production of Disney’s “High School Musical.” This is the second year that the two organizations have teamed to support this public affairs initiative, which is designed to utilize the popularity of the “High School Musical” movies to encourage kids to get involved in music and the arts in school.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) hosted the second SchoolJam Texas teen battle of the bands competition in front of a full-capacity crowd of more than 500 at The Parish in Austin. The six finalist bands from all over Texas battled it out Feb. 28 and represented an array of styles from alternative to mariachi.

The NAMM Foundation announced that it recently hosted multiple events at the NAMM Show that were focused on keeping music education strong in schools. The Foundation hopes to raise awareness within the music products industry about the critical importance of being active in their communities in order to maintain support for music education programs in today’s economic environment.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, recently announced that its resource center staff completed 38 interviews with industry dignitaries during the 2009 NAMM Show in Anaheim. The filmed conversations lend valuable and historical insight into the music products industry and add to the growing collection of industry-related stories and dialogue documented by NAMM since June 2000.

 NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) have announced the six finalists in the second SchoolJam Texas Battle of the Bands, featuring the best school bands in Texas. The groups will compete in this one-of-a-kind contest, which is designed to support the teen musicians’ local music education programs. The six finalists are:

 NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, announced the availability of new limited medical insurance plans that guarantee acceptance for all NAMM Members age 18 to 64. Starting at $69.99 per month, the plans offer limited medical insurance to NAMM Member companies and their employees, some of whom have been unable to obtain comprehensive medical insurance because of high costs or pre-existing conditions.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, today announced final registration and exhibitor numbers for the 2009 NAMM Show. At show close, NAMM reported 85,799 registrants, a 3 percent decrease from last year. Even in economically challenging times, the association reported 1,505 exhibitors at this year’s show. International registration also experienced a 2 percent decrease.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, has announced the winners of its third annual Wanna Play? Awards. Five companies from outside the music products industry were honored Sunday at the Hilton Anaheim during the NAMM Show's Breakfast Session for depicting characters playing musical instruments to convey messages of hope, excitement, coolness and desire.

Day four of the 2009 NAMM Show brought music products professionals to the Anaheim Convention Center for one final day of meetings, networking, education and music.
