NAMM Members Bring Music Instruments, Lessons to Anaheim School

Music industry leaders spend day volunteering at Anaheim’s John Marshall Elementary School to kick off the 2015 NAMM Show

January 12, 2015

NAMM members bring music to Anaheim’s John Marshall Elementary School with a day of service on Tuesday, January 20 from 8 a.m. to noon. The effort celebrates the Anaheim City School District’s (ACSD) re-introduction of music education programs. Assisted by the NAMM Foundation and Metro Nashville Public School’s “Music Makes Us,” ACSD re-initiated its music education program with an orchestra program in 2013. The district added three full-time music teachers in 2014 – the first music teachers in the district in 20 years. During the day of service, the NAMM Foundation will donate $10,000 and 12 guitars to bolster the district’s budding music programs.

"The success of the NAMM Show provides the funds for The NAMM Foundation's many efforts to support music education," said Joe Lamond, president and CEO of NAMM. "And while our members come from around the globe to attend NAMM, we all have a very special connection to the Anaheim community. It is gratifying to be able to play music with the children and the inspiring music teachers in the Anaheim City School District.”

Music Industry leaders in town for the NAMM Show (January 22-25) will bring guitars, drums and ukuleles for a morning of music at Anaheim’s John Marshall Elementary School. NAMM members Kala Brand Music Co., Remo, Daisy Rock Girl Guitar, Alfred Music, Music and Arts, Rhythm Band Instruments and GAMA, share instruments and music books for morning’s lessons. NAMM’s day of service kicks off the annual gathering of nearly 100,000 members of the music product industry in Anaheim.
