Piano 300 Book Wins Prestigious Design Awards
Piano 300: Celebrating Three Centuries of People and Pianos, a book focusing on the NAMM-sponsored Piano 300 exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution, recently won two awards at the Washington Book Publishers Annual Book Design Competition. The publication received second place in the four-color interior design category, and won third place for its sleek cover design.
Piano 300 curators Cynthia Adams Hoover, Patrick Rucker and Edwin M. Good worked with editor Jane Freundel Levey to create the coffee table book, which features color photographs of many of the items exhibited, as well as technical information on the specific pianos featured.
The yearlong exhibit celebrated the instrument’s 300th birthday, and remains the most successful display in the history of the International Gallery. The NAMM-sponsored event featured 25 historic pianos and keyboards, including one of only three existing pianos made by Italian inventor Bartolomeo Cristofori in 1722.
Piano 300: Celebrating Three Centuries of People and Piano is available through NAMM, and provides both retailers and manufacturers with a great tool to promote piano sales, add to their publication inventory and bring the instrument’s rich legacy to light.
