themusicedge.com and Fanscape Partner to Promote Teen Music Education Petition

Petition to Save Music in Schools Gets Widespread Publicity as it Approaches February 25 Deadline

February 25, 2005

In an effort to increase awareness of its petition to keep music education programs in schools, NAMM, the International Music Products Association and The Music Edge, its Web-based teen music-making initiative, recently partnered with Fanscape, a leading youth entertainment marketing company. Signatures for the petition, which originated in 2002, will be collected through February 25, and will be delivered to Congress on March 9.

Fanscape’s publicity of the petition began with an editorial feature in its February 8, 2005, entertainment newsletter, which reached more than 1.5 million targeted, active entertainment fans and consumers. Continued promotion followed on Fanscape.com, in various Fanscape e-mail messaging and on Fanscape’s partner Web sites, reaching hundreds of thousands of subscribers. In return, Fanscape will be promoted on themusicedge.com, www.namm.org and www.amc-music.org.

Future plans for the partnership include cross-promotional quarterly contests with other major sponsors, monthly Fanscape Featured Artists on themusicedge.com and continued development of an expanded partnership network.
