Top Musicians Will Join the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities to Unveil Research on Student Achievement in 'Turnaround Arts' Program

Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer Chad Smith, Trombone Shorty, Citizen Cope and PCAH Executive Director Rachel Goslins will Present Findings at the Annual NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA

January 19, 2015

The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH), the NAMM Foundation, and several top musicians will jointly unveil research on student achievement within PCAH’s groundbreaking Turnaround Arts program on Thurs., Jan. 22, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (PST), during the annual NAMM Show. The Turnaround Arts initiative is a groundbreaking PCAH program, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education and the White House Domestic Policy Council, to help turn around low-performing schools, narrow the achievement gap, and increase student engagement through the arts.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer Chad Smith, Trombone Shorty, and Citizen Cope are three of the program’s “Turnaround Artists,” who have been working with students in schools participating in the Turnaround Arts program. They will join PCAH Executive Director Rachel Goslins to unveil new research that examines the progress students have made while engaged with the program.
