Major brands and buying power prepare to meet at Summer NAMM.
The NAMM Foundation awards school music education programs with the announcement of 2014’s Best Communities for Music Education (BCME). This year, the NAMM Foundation designates 376 districts as Best Communities for Music Education and 96 individual schools as SupportMusic Merit Award winners.
NAMM members prepare to take the nation’s capital by storm making the case for comprehensive school music education programs. Leaders of the music product industry, celebrity artists and other industry influencers join together encouraging congressional leaders to support music education for all children. Registration is now open to current NAMM Members for the annual D.C.
Music-products industry retailers take center stage as NAMM presents the Top 100 Dealer Awards July 18 at Summer NAMM in Nashville. Entries are now being accepted for the awards, which focus on retailer excellence in eight “Best Of’ categories. The 2014 “Dealer of the Year” will be chosen from among the Top 100. Dubbed the ‘retail Oscars’ by Music Inc.
Having received a standing ovation, Summer NAMM prepares for an encore performance at Nashville’s Music City Center, July 17-19, 2014. A new venue, more brands and high-caliber evening events renewed NAMM’s annual summer event in 2013. This year NAMM ups the ante with additional exhibit space to accommodate new and returning brands, more opportunities for professional development and not-to-be-missed evening events.
Make Music Day presents the industry with an ideal opportunity to create more music makers and reach new customers. Held on June 21st, Make Music Day is part of the international Fête de la Musique, taking place in 800 cities across 110 countries. The daylong musical free-for-all, celebrates music in all its forms encouraging people to band together and play.

Spotlighting the use of musical instruments and music-making products and technology in television commercials, NAMM awards United Airlines’ ad “Orchestra” created by McGarryBowen with the NAMM Excellence Award for Music in Advertising. The awards are presented in front of an audience of music product industry leaders on January 26, 2014 at the NAMM Show.
At its Annual Meeting of Members, held January 25 during the 2014 NAMM Show, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Board of Directors welcomes eight new industry pros. The NAMM Board of Directors guides and leads NAMM and NAMM Foundation and offers counsel to the music product industry.
