George Quinlan Sr
George Quinlan was proud of his store outside of Chicago, for which the walls are full of photographs of the children he rented or sold an instrument to, and the fact that he survived hard times such as a store fire. However, George may have been most proud of the fact that his son took over the store and has proven to have his father’s passion and love for the business. George told us “After all, it’s not just a store; it is a part of who I am.” As a notable sign of his dedication to the industry, George and his wife were among the first Charter Benefactors for the NAMM Foundation’s Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, California. Our NAMM Oral History interview with George Quinlan was completed on July 10, 2002.
