NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, announced that it will hold a Webinar on Friday, May 29 at 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT) to address product liability concerns relating to California’s Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act.

Recently a legal complaint was filed by a California law firm against many guitar string manufacturers alleging that every type of metal instrument string containing lead poses a dire health risk and could cause cancer to players. As reported by The Music Trades, the 21 string companies named consider the suit to be without merit and intend to fight it.

The Webinar entitled “Product Liability for Musical Instruments and Accessories” will be led by James Goldberg of Goldberg & Associates, PLLC, NAMM’s Washington-based government affairs counsel.
