CITES Interpretation on Appendix III Timber Trade

In an effort to clarify inconsistent interpretations of Appendix III timber listings, the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) has issued a Notification to the Parties which outlines its views on how trade should be regulated in these listings.  The notification includes instructions for trading in Appendix III-listed species in the following instances: (a) an entire species is included in Appendix III, (b) only one or more national populations of a species are included, or (c) an entire species plus one or more national populations are included.  The Notification to the Parties can be found at:   http://cites.org/sites/default/files/notif/E-Notif-2014-048_0.pdf
