Forest Legality Alliance is a key organization focused on promoting the trade of legal wood products. The 12th semiannual meeting scheduled for January 27-28 at the World Resources Institute in Washington D.C., will have a special focus on challenges in implementing forest legality verification in China. Additionally, FLA is planning sessions on the following:
- A panel discussion with representatives from the private sector on how timber legality regulations, such as the Lacey Act, or the EUTR, apply to timber sourced from forests illegally converted to commercial agricultural production
- Breakout sessions that will provide members a chance to discuss a topic in depth (topics will be announced soon)
- A panel exploring emerging innovative supply chain management and forest cover monitoring tools
- Presentations of regional updates from important geographies
- Updates on our current activities and plans for the second phase of the Forest Legality Alliance
