Dickey Lee
Dickey Lee grew up in Memphis and began playing at dances and parties at an early age. He would often introduce a new song that he wrote along with the hits of the day. In 1957, Dickey recorded for Sun Records and later became known for his teenage tragedy songs such as “Laurie (Strange Things Happen).” His songwriting skills began to gain world attention with the 1962 chart topper for George Jones, “She Thinks I Still Care.” The song was later recorded by Elvis Presley and Leon Russel as well as dozens of others over the years. The success of that song was also Dickey’s introduction into the music publishing world. In 1995, Dickey was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
