Kevin Becka
Kevin Becka started playing guitar at 11 years old and aspired to become a famous guitar player. Eventually realized he had a passion for engineering while working on construction crews building recording studios throughout the Los Angeles area, later becoming an assistant engineer in one of the studios he helped to build. During his NAMM Oral History interview, Kevin recounted the story of recording Breathless with Kenny G, as well as Unforgettable with Natalie Cole. After leaving the engineering field, he started writing for a few different trade magazines and settled in with Mix Magazine in 2003 and then later moved to Nashville to set up The Blackbird Academy. Kevin’s passion encouraged and inspired his students at the recording academy as well as many of his friends and colleagues throughout the music industry.
