Steve Wilkerson
Steve Wilkerson was just a young saxophonist when legendary bandleader, Stan Kenton, hired him to join his orchestra in 1975. It was a great experience for Steve, who went on to play in several bands and with a long list of performers both in jazz and rock. While living in Los Angeles, Steve became a studio session musician and can be heard on hundreds of albums, movies and television programs. After retiring from music teaching at the college level, he returned to his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. On December 12, 2018, Steve stopped in at Saied Music store to pick up his horn from the repair department, where the NAMM Oral History crew just happened to be set up. His interview was meant to be!
