Victor Zeiser, founder of Parnelli Hometown Hero Nominee Squeek Lights joins Kid Rock lighting designer Nook Schoenfeld for a panel discussion that will shed light on
their insights and personal experiences, key moments and decisions on their path to become LDs. Parting from different starting points, Victor and Nook share more than one way to work in lighting design.
Victor Zeiser is a lighting designer and the founder of Squeek Lights, a company which specializes in providing lighting design and rentals for club-level tours. He has a B.F.A. in lighting design from Webster University and has toured with bands, including They Might Be Giants, Beartooth and Animal Collective.
Nook Schoenfeld took his first step toward becoming a lighting designer when he responded to a “Stagehands Wanted” bulletin board ad while an English major in college. This soon led to a job as a sound/lighting tech. Moving exclusively into lighting, he was there for the for the advent of moving heads and picked up experience in the 1980s and ’90s working for a diverse range of clients, including Talking Heads, The Clash, Sugar Ray, No Doubt and Lenny Kravitz. At an MTV Awards show, his work came to the attention of Kid Rock, ultimately leading to what would become one of the longest-running and well-known artist-lighting designer relationships in the industry. He has also designed for an array of other artists, including John Legend and Sheryl Crow. In December 2014, the former English major added another line to his impressive resume when he was named editor of PLSN.
