D’Addario Foundation Hosts Back 2 School: Class of 2019 Benefit
Earlier this month, the D’Addario Foundation “went back to school” at the Palace Theater in Los Angeles to raise funds to support efforts to revitalize music education programs in underserved schools and communities. The night featured appearances by John C. Reilly, Jim James, Mandy Moore, and Garfunkel & Oates, all of which performed alongside the house band, The Watkins Family Hour & Mike Viola.
The D’Addario Foundation provides “monetary and product support to high-quality sustainable music instruction programs on the frontline to improve access to music education.” They believe “in the transformative power of music and that mentoring and building communities through music can positively affect social change.” The success of the November 2nd event is credited in part to the efforts of their sponsors including NAMM Member’s Guitar Center, Sweetwater, Terracycle, Popular Production, D’Angelico, Quinlan & Fabish, and Gallagher.
Suzanne D’Addario Brouder, Foundation Director, reflected on the experience stating, “From the opening notes of ‘Saved By The Bell’ featuring the world-class house band and superstars Sara and Sean Watkins, to the exciting grand finale with the Drum Corps, the D’Addario Foundation’s Back 2 School benefit was a one of a kind evening, packed with dynamic performances from start to finish. Even now, weeks later, I am still amazed that so many musical giants shared their time, talent, and generous spirit to put a spotlight on our mission. Money raised from this event, allows us to expand our efforts in helping our community partners overcome some of their most enduring challenges such as accommodating students on waiting lists that want to participate in these vital music education programs.”
