Karla Redding-Andrews
Karla Redding-Andrew’s father, Otis Redding, committed himself early on in his short career to philanthropy. The soul legend started a camp inviting 600 school students to learn about music and the arts back in 1966. Otis also awarded scholarships to young students and after his untimely death in 1967 his wife Zelma continued Otis’ philanthropic efforts. In 2007 the Otis Redding Foundation was created and today his daughter Karla continues Otis’s legacy as the Executive Director, teaching children the importance of education and music. Karla shared her memories of her father when she was 5 years old and recounts his accomplishments bringing people together with his music.
