NAMM member Genelec has aligned with the non-profit, The Music Works, to present the Music Bus, a new initiative from the philanthropic organization. This mobile studio connects communities by harnessing the power of music and its collaborative and creative creation process.

The Music Works is an organization that employs specialists who work “with young people in challenging circumstances to help them reach their full potential in music, learning, and life.” The organization is headquartered in Gloucestershire, England, and works with 2,500 young people aged 8-30. Before the launch of the Music Bus, The Music Works initiatives included delivering one-to-one music mentoring, accredited training, apprenticeships, internships, festivals, events, artist and career development, and business incubation.

Founded in 1978, Genelec focuses on professional audio monitoring at its core of operations. The NAMM member produces monitoring products that offer “reliability, neutral sound reproduction regardless of size, as well as the ability to adapt frequency response to the listening environment.” For the last 40 years, Genelec has expanded to provide its customers with various audio solutions, including selected consumer and AV installation markets in both commercial and residential settings.

The Music Works, with help from Genelec, recently debuted its newest tool to bring the power of music to the masses and enable people to connect and collaborate as they create music with the launch of the Music Bus. The Music Bus aims “to bring music to disadvantaged communities within Gloucestershire through facilitated sessions that will empower young people to channel their creativity positively and learn new skills.” The Music Works believes this new initiative can “reduce anti-social behavior incidents in the area by giving young people positive opportunities to take part and a chance to make the music they love.”

Genelec has sponsored the Music Bus as part of its long-standing support of The Music Works Hub. Andy Bensley, Genelec’s regional business development manager, said, “The Music Works Hub is a fantastic space for young people to develop their skills and collaborate with their peers from Gloustershire and the surrounding areas in the southwest of England.”

The NAMM member has already provided The Music Works with studio monitors at the nonprofit’s flagship location in Gloucester. In addition, the company has outfitted the Music Bus with one of its signature speakers, The Ones, a compact, three-way studio monitor to support this new initiative. The Ones are recognized for the “accuracy for fueling creativity and bringing out the very best in musicians and recording engineers alike.”

Bensley continued, “We at Genelec feel that this initiative is so important for young people starting out to develop their opinions and skill set when working with audio on a technical or creative level. We are incredibly proud to be able to offer access to reference monitoring systems that not only inspire young engineers and musicians but also raise their expectations of how far they can take their productions.”
