The self-described “crusaders for the protection of how great sounds should be played” team at BishopSound is led by Andrew Bishop, who was drawn back to his manufacturing roots in 2015 after receiving repeated requests “for new PA equipment that could deliver the ‘British Sound’ loved by users the world over.” Launching BishopSound in 2016, the demand for Bishop’s products has grown rapidly in the UK and has seen distribution increase to over 20 countries. In January of 2020, the team from BishopShound attended their first NAMM Show and sat down to reflect on their experiences.

What made you decide that this year was the right time to make your NAMM Show debut?

Our customers told us that they prefer The NAMM Show to any other industry show. Easier access to a visa and to the USA together with affordable accommodation. Our business is going global and The NAMM Show is truly an international showcase. The experience and exposure we experienced at The NAMM Show combined with an extremely cost-effective path to attend and some financial assistance from the U.K.’s Department of Trade and Industry made for an opportunity we couldn’t pass up.

What products did you premier at The Show?

BishopSound is developing a range of British designed and manufactured pro audio products, building on the great reputation British audio products have achieved over the years. This show was our chance to tell visitors from around the world what we are doing and the response was overwhelming - people were really interested and the contacts we made - not just in the USA but from around the world - have already resulted in new orders. Our newly launched line array package was particularly well received.

What was the highlight for the team this year at The NAMM Show?

From the second we arrived and started unpacking our booth, we were kept busy with customers and prospective buyers. We were pinned down doing business the majority of The Show, but we did carve out time to attend an evening get together with the Music Industry Association in the U.K., and Joe Lamond, and his team. The team also found the pro-audio pool party was of huge value as we took advantage of the top-quality industry networking.

Do you feel that there are any benefits as an international dealer and exhibiting at The NAMM Show?

BishopSound has found that few shows treat overseas visitors as well as The NAMM Show. There are warm welcomes, and everything seems to flow seamlessly the entire duration of The Show. An unrivaled experience within the industry.

Will you be heading back to Anaheim for The 2021 NAMM Show?

Following meetings at The 2020 NAMM Show, we are now in detailed negotiations with a new partner that will stock and distribute our BishopSound speakers across the USA. We plan to make a major launch at The 2021 NAMM Show and showcase more great product made in England, so make sure you stop by our booth in 2021.
