Daneen Wilburn

Daneen Wilburn has been taking fans on a musical journey of emotion and passion since she was a child. Her voice transitions from soul, gospel, jazz and ballads in effortless fashion. “She is an engaging performer and a true talent," says Grammy Winner Clarence McDonald, producer of chart shattering hits, “You’ve Got the Best of My Love” by the Emotions and Bill Wither’s “Lovely Day”. He continued, “If you ever have an opportunity, go see her”. Perhaps this is why her fans are eagerly awaiting her first, full length, debut album, produced by two time Grammy winner, Kamau Kenyatta.

Daneen’s parents were both gospel singers and made music a huge part of she and her sibling’s lives. Daneen was the lead singer of the family band and her performer’s spirit was always front and center. In fact, by age 19, she would find herself singing on stage at the legendary Hollywood Bowl, along with some of gospel music’s top names including Edwin Hawkins, Darryl Coley, and Ricky Grundy. Soon after, she began a family and quickly realized her duties to motherhood would come first. Her dream of a career in music would have to wait.

When Daneen finally returned to music, almost twenty years later, her voice was as clear and beautiful as ever. She quickly became one of San Diego’s most sought after vocalist. In 2013 Robert Fowler, owner of the San Diego Padres, asked her to sing for the memorial service of Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, at Petco Park before 25,000 fans. Daneen performed an acappella version of Amazing Grace, that silenced the crowd of 25,000 fans, and sports celebrities Reggie Jackson, Steve Garvey, Joe Torre, and Bob Costas, just to name a few. Her voice rang out through downtown and San Diego’s historic Gaslamp District. The city was so moved, that the headline of the San Diego Union Tribune, simply read, “Amazing Grace.”

Daneen’s new album, “I Still Love You” is a compilation of Soulful Jazz and gospel inspired music. Daneen’s rich vocals and smooth tones will move the heart. The album is filled with original music, including the recreation of a song recorded nearly 40 years ago, by her uncle’s gospel quartet, entitled, “I’ll Be Free”.
