Hearts Like Lions

Hometown:
Long Beach, California

Formed out of an obsession for making music in 2011, Hearts Like Lions started as a group of high schoolers doing what they love. It didn’t take long for the Long Beach natives’ sound to resonate with listeners—at the core of every song lies a raw authenticity that creates a unique bond between musician and audience. In 2014, they released their debut EP, These Hands, after signing with Tooth & Nail Records. The distinct sound and tangible passion displayed on the EP allowed them to tour those songs for three years. Their first full-length, If I Never Speak Again, was released in 2017, showing the world the progression of their sound and journey as a group. At surface level, the songs are the impossible-to-get-out-of-your-head type; when reflected upon, they’re the kind that grow and connect with you. Inspiration from Young the Giant, Taking Back Sunday, and Circa Survive has led to infectious melodies and unfiltered emotion that is now innately and uniquely Hearts Like Lions. They bring a creativity to the alternative rock scene that is fresh yet nostalgic in nature. This distinctly reminiscent sound has taken them and their music all over the U.S. Composed of vocalist and guitarist Stephen Ramos, guitarist Michael Grasseschi, bassist Luke Shoepf, and drummer Nick Sturz, Hearts Like Lions is just a group of down-to-earth guys who play with conviction. They’ve shared a stage with From Indian Lakes, Blindside, and Hoobastank, and have toured with Emery, The Classic Crime, Hotel Books, and more. Some great achievements include their song “Get This Through” climbing to #2 New & Active and #1 Most Added on the Billboard charts, and “Pretty Little Phase” saw 3 weeks at #1 on the Billboard charts, and 23 weeks in the Top 10.
