Day four of the 2008 NAMM Show brought music products professionals to the Anaheim Convention Center for one final day of meetings, networking, education and music.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, held its Annual Meeting of Members today during the 2008 NAMM Show. After introducing past presidents in attendance, reviewing the new annual report and recapping highlights of the year, Chairman Chip Averwater called for the vote of the new slate of the NAMM Board of Directors. The following NAMM Members were elected for service from 2008 to 2011: Jon Harris is president of Harris/Teller, Inc., a full-line music products distributor, based in Chicago.

The third day of the 2008 NAMM Show drew thousands of music products professionals to the halls of the Anaheim Convention Center, where they checked out the newest gear, networked with industry members and watched live product demos by musical celebrities.

The NAMM Foundation and Disney Channel today announced the recipients of “Disney’s High School Musical: The Music in You Grant Program” that encourages middle and high schools across the United States to put on their own school stage production of Disney’s High School Musical. The announcement was made at the NAMM Show, the largest international music products trade show in the United States. High School Musical star Olesya Rulin who plays Kelsi Nielsen in both movies, read the list of winners.

The second day of the 2008 NAMM Show drew crowds to the Anaheim Convention Center for business meetings, product demonstrations, networking and live music.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, today announced a new initiative with interactive entertainment industry leader RedOctane®, publisher of the best-selling Guitar Hero® videogame franchise. NAMM will link its consumer-facing Wanna Play? public awareness campaign, which encourages people of all ages to experience the joys of making music, with the recently released Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, one of the hottest and most coveted gift items this past holiday season.

Today, musical instrument and product manufacturers from around the world will fill the Anaheim Convention Center with exhibits, including debuts of the latest innovations not yet released in the market, as the 106th NAMM Show gets under way. NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, operates the industry’s largest annual trade-only event in the world, and this year’s group of 1,559 exhibiting companies sets an all-time record for the four-day gathering. Thousands of music products professionals will attend to see the latest in musical instruments and audio and computer technology, participate in industry-specific professional development courses and enjoy ongoing peer-to-peer networking opportunities.

NAMM’s Ad-Hoc Technology Committee released another two components of its business-to-business technology standards for the music products industry. These documents, the Invoice Document and Item Document are key components of the XML-based industry standard, which has been dubbed Version "2007.1." Previously published documents include the Purchase Order Document, Functional Acknowledgement Document and the Advanced Shipping Notice Document.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, recently conducted a Harris Poll that has everyone feeling the beat of a healthy new year. More than 2,000 people who don’t currently play a musical instrument were asked why they don’t. What was revealed is that they are ready to start making music in 2008.
