Walther Veerkamp
Walther Veerkamp was the son of the founder of Casa Veerkamp, one of the most respected and oldest music retailers in Mexico. His father, who was born in Germany, opened a small music retail store in Mexico City in 1908. He struggled to provide instruments for the store even while exporting products from Europe. Over the years he established new business methods that made bringing musical instruments into Mexico easier and more cost effective. Walther worked in the company his entire life and helped develop the business over the years. He was proud when his son, Thomas, joined the business to continue the family tradition. Walther was a passionate member of the music industry and it was an honor to include him in the NAMM Oral History collection.
