While the Affordable Care Act's so-called employer mandate has been delayed until 2015, another provision, applicable to virtually all employers in the country, is scheduled to take effect by October 1, 2013.
By that date all employers subject to the federal minimum wage law (regardless of the number of full-time or part-time employees) must provide all employees with information about their health insurance options. The same notice must be provided to all new workers hired after October 1, 2013. The mandatory notice must be provided whether or not the employer provides health insurance coverage.
