Welcome Committee

Lets try to have our discussions archived and organized by using this forum.

NAMM Show Plans

On Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013 at 3 pm we are planning on having a public 'summit' style meeting that will start with an informational/tutorial segment.  The thought is to give participants a thorough technical overview and answer questions as we go.  After that segment, I would like to open up the conversation to the participants.  The goal of this segment would be to realign our goals with the needs of our Members.

It is important to invite the right people to this meeting.  In the early years before the committee was established, a meeting just like that helped to identify what problems were and ultimately led to the formation of the Adhoc Tech Committee.  We will need to figure out a good mechanism to invite people, but I still think we need a better description for what this 'Summit' is in order to encourage people to attend.  What are your thoughts?

I think this is a great idea. I recall the meeting you mentioned, it was very effective.

Tech Summit Session

I have created a draft page for the session.  It is located at:

http://www.namm.org/initiatives/b2b/tech-summit   (Make sure you are logged in)

I am looking for feedback before we publish this.  You can respond here.

I also created and input form so that we can create an invitation list so that we are sure we are reaching out to everyone that might be interested or important to our conversations.  It is located here:

http://www.namm.org/initiatives/b2b/tech-summit/invitations  (Make sure you are logged in)

Please add everyone you think should be invited. The page is a little rough presently, but it should be functional enough.

RE: Tech Summit Session

Dan,

I thought we were going to include something about the direction of the group going forward.

Direction

We can include something like that.  What kind of language do you suggest?

Anyone? Anyone?

Invitation docx/msg posted

I have posted a boilerplate invitation .msg and docx file for anyone to use to invite people to the Tech Summit.  It is located on this page:

http://www.namm.org/initiatives/b2b/tech-summit/invitations

The 'Tech Summit' page has been published too, so you can direct people there for further info:

RE: Direction

I think we can add one line in the Interactive discussions section – NAMM Technology Group Roadmap

We can share our current roadmap. We can ask everyone to share issues they face that they think our group can help solve. We can also talk about where we have come from. I don’t think many NAMM members are aware of the number of trading partners using the documents we developed and the number of transactions using these documents each day.

We are very focused on Item and Item Category right now however we can’t forget how important PO, ASN and Invoice are. We worked on those first partly because several members needed them immediately. NAMM members coming to the meeting and learning about this document standard for the first time need to hear that and understand the potential benefits of using all of the documents.

Comment on agenda

I see Dan's suggestion about getting input for the future.

However in the draft of the agenda I don't see it..

How about adding to first section.

A review of all the NAMM Standard Tools built to date

1. Item document

2. Invoice

etc.

(here spend about 20-30 seconds on each tool   Title/Purpose/Brief structure

Then the second discussion section we could ask participants:

What addtional tools would you like to see the Committee build over the next year.. and long term?

What additional support do you need to help you implement this for your company?

Something like this then would give us new ideas and direction.
