Fred Davis
Fred Davis began playing saxophone as a boy and started his own band, the Freddy Davis Orchestra, which played around Ohio during World War II. He was well equipped with reeds for his gigs as his mother owned a small music store in Marysville, where Fred grew up. After working in his mother's store as a kid, Fred went on to work for Wurlitzer Music in their retail stores. The Wurlitzer Company opened a chain of stores predominantly in the Midwest in the 1940s, and Fred soon managed several different locations in and around Ohio. After the retail stores closed, Fred began working with his longtime friend, Paul Graves, at Graves Piano and Organ in Columbus, Ohio.
