NAMM held its Annual Meeting of Members today during the 2009 NAMM Show. After introducing past presidents in attendance, reviewing the new annual report and recapping highlights of the year, Chairman Chip Averwater called for the vote of the new slate of the NAMM Board of Directors. The following NAMM Members were elected for service from 2009 to 2012: Dick Boak is the director of artist and public relations for C.F. Martin & Co., a guitar manufacturing company.

The third day of the 2009 NAMM Show drew thousands of music products professionals to the halls of the Anaheim Convention Center for business, networking, music and education.

The second day of the 2009 NAMM Show drew crowds to the Anaheim Convention Center for business meetings, product demonstrations, networking and live music. Many show-goers began the day at the Hilton Anaheim Hotel for the NAMM University Breakfast Session. Before the session began, attendees were treated to a moving performance on the erhu by Mr. Liunian Bian, who wrote the music for the Beijing Olympics closing ceremony.

The NAMM Show, the longest-running trade show in the United States, opened today welcoming thousands of musical instrument and products retailers and manufacturers from around the world. Despite a turbulent global economy, the mood of the industry remains optimistic as more consumers of all ages turn to less expensive, more family-oriented pastimes like music making during these challenging economic times.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, announced that it will be hosting a new Wanna Play? Film Contest encouraging amateur filmmakers to capture the joys and benefits of people playing music. The contest was created to raise awareness about the organization’s national Wanna Play? campaign, which encourages people of all ages to start playing music and enjoying the many social and wellness benefits of this activity.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, kicked off its 107th NAMM Show today at the Anaheim Convention Center. Thousands of music products professionals from around the world gathered for the event, which started on a musical note at the Hilton Anaheim Hotel with a slide guitar performance by Bob Brozman.

Since 1998, the NAMM Foundation has been conducting the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Survey, a nationwide search for communities whose programs exemplify commitment to music education.

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, announced today that it will again join the Coalition for Music Education in Canada in its fifth annual Music Monday event May 4, 2009, to demonstrate the galvanizing power of making music and kick off its annual Wanna Play Music Week.

Learning to play a musical instrument is one of the top New Year’s resolutions, according to a survey of 1,000 consumers conducted this week by Impulse Research and commissioned by NAMM, the international trade association for the music products industry.  Survey results also show that giving musical instruments may be the perfect gift to help friends and family reduce stress, provide a fulfilling form of entertainment, and bring the family closer together this holiday season.
