The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) announced today that it will host its inaugural “Top 100 Dealer Awards” at the 2011 Summer NAMM Show in Nashville, Tenn. this July. This exciting new program will recognize outstanding NAMM Retailers during a gala event on Friday evening of Summer NAMM.

The NAMM Foundation announced today that employees of NAMM-Member companies who are pursuing education or careers in the music products industry can submit applications to be considered for a William R. Gard Memorial Scholarship. The deadline for submitting an application is March 31, 2011.

A crowd of hundreds gathered at the Downtown Disney District on Saturday to cheer on 10 teen bands from across the country as they battled for the national title of "Best Teen Band" at the second annual SchoolJam USA. Peligro from Gahanna, Ohio took home the first-place platinum record in the live competition presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) during the weekend of the music industry's celebrated NAMM Show.

Awards today to honor eight companies from outside of the music products industry that use music products in their television ads, helping to inspire people to make music. The recipients of the 2010 Wanna Play? Awards are: •      Honda for its “The Van Beckons” TV ad •      Hertz for its “Journey On/Amy’s Journey” TV ad

ANAHEIM, Calif., Jan. 15, 2011--NAMM held its Annual Meeting of Members today during the 2011 NAMM Show. After introducing past presidents in attendance, reviewing the new annual report and recapping highlights of the year, Chairman Tom Schmitt called for the vote of the new slate of the NAMM Board of Directors. The third day of the NAMM Show kicked off with more tips and advice to retailers on how to enhance their businesses at the morning Breakfast Session called “The Retail Doctor’s Guide to Growing Your Business” featuring Bob Phibbs, The Retail Doctor. Phibbs drew upon his extensive retail experience and direct style to impart valuable advice to retailers about how to set their businesses apart from others in a competitive market.
